Meet the Graduate
Meet Diego, a Construction Management major, graduating from Sacramento State University class of 2021! Diego was born in Tepatitlan, Jalisco and was raised in Sacramento, California, also know as the city of trees. When asked why he decided to attend Sac State, Diego said “Sacramento State has one of the best Construction Management programs and luckily for me it’s located in my hometown. My best memory at CSUS is graduating and having my family be part of the Carmencement.”
Q&A Time
What is your favorite thing to do in the summer?
“In the summer, I love planning and hosting events for my family and girlfriend. I also enjoy gardening and doing yard work around the house.”
If you had to describe yourself in three words, what would they be?
“Resilient, Optimistic, and Charismatic.”
Why did you decide to take graduation photos?
“My grad photos mean everything to me. It’s a representation that regardless of which challenges I faced, I was able to overcome them. It’s a one of the biggest milestone in my academic career.”
What is one goal you’d like to accomplish during your life?
“My biggest goal in life is to be a role model to my family and to future generations.”
The Shoot
Like Diego mentioned, CSUS has one of the best construction management programs in the CSU system. Not only was Diego a part of this great program, he was also able to work on the construction of a new campus building. It was only fitting that for his graduation photos, taking some with his hard hat and construction vest was a must.
Diego came to the shoot with his mother and his girlfriend. We took some individual photos of Diego and then also included some with each of them as well as some group photos. During our set at the Guy West bridge, I asked Diego to take a photo with his mother. They looked at each other, gazed deep into their eyes, and gave each other a very warm and loving hug. To this date, this is one of my favorite grad photos I’ve ever taken.
