Meet the Graduate
Meet Yissel, who is majoring in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems from UC Davis, class of 2021! Yissel is originally from Porterville, California, a small city city in the San Joaquin valley, close to Bakersfield. When asked why she decided to attend UC Davis, Yissel said “I choose UC Davis because it was the #1 Agricultural University in the Nation. From the beginning of my college career I knew I wanted to study agriculture. My favorite moment during college was studying abroad in Costa Rica where I learned about different sustainable agricultural techniques. As a first generation student, it was a privilege to study abroad and my experience in Costa Rica was life changing.” Yissel was also a volunteer at the Student Farm, a coordinator for Field Day and she also formed part of Aggie Ambassadors.

The Shoot
UC Davis is a beautiful campus. In my opinion, it has a great balance between modern architecture and nature-esc scenery. We started our session with Yissel at the must have UC Davis school sign near Dutton Hall east. This sign can get very packed during grad season, so I choose this location first before the grad rush gets here around sunset.
From here, we proceeded to walk over to memorial union hall. This was my first time photographing near this building. The location is clean and photographs very well. Up next, Yissel and I walked over to the tree pathways near the quad. These images look great, since there is a lot of greenery in the background.
On our way to the orchards, we stopped at the Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art building, which had some great background and the lighting was excellent. We snapped a few photos here before finishing our session at the Robert Mondavi Institute for Wine and Food Science fields.
Below are some of our favorite UC Davis grad photos with Yissel. Enjoy!
